Hallie Dudley

What injury did you sustain?
I sustained a left femur fracture, a tib/fib fracture, strain of the rotator cuff muscles, right eye contusion, concussion and severe nerve damage in both of my feet from my accident.

When did this injury occur?
June 2nd, 2011

How long was the recovery process?
still recovering

What provided you the motivation and drive to press on through the difficult times after sustaining the injury?
My motivation was my family and friends. I became very depressed from not being able to walk for about 6 weeks. My mother has been a saint through all of this. Just being around my friends and family changed my personality. Also, another mother-figure helped me alot because she has been through something tragic herself so knowing that someone knows what it feels like is very relieving.

How did the injury you sustained shape your character in who you are today?
I know I am still in my recovery process, but therapy has helped a tremendous amount. Therapy has made me improve in my walking (I barely have a limp anymore) and I’m not quite able to run yet but my excersizes are helping to get my muscles back so I can someday.

Since the injury, how has life changed for you?
My life has changed because at this point I’m not able to do everything I did before. I can’t go and play basketball like I used to with my friends. I’m not as quick as I was before but just believing and knowing I will be someday makes me want to work ten times harder to get there again.
